About the Founder
LOKAH/CO was founded in 2017 by Julie Weber in an effort to create a space where her diverse passions and expertise in globalisation, women’s empowerment, yoga and mindfulness could intersect.
Julie spent the early years of her career advocating for the health and rights of women and girls at the United Nations before completing a Master’s Degree in Gender, Development and Globalisation at the London School of Economics.
After living in the lovely land of New Zealand for a year, she was enchanted by a lifestyle that invited more space and ease and turned to yoga as means of cultivating these qualities from within. She became a certified yoga instructor and spent the next several years teaching workshops, classes, retreats and private clients in New York City.
Inspired by the transformative benefits of yoga and mindfulness that she observed in her students, with a conviction that they needed to reach more of the world’s underserved populations, and desire to return to her passion for supporting women around the globe, Julie went in search of a way to bring all of these elements together in a simple, purposeful package.
With a focus on supporting and empowering female artisans, mindfully crafting conscious, quality products with love and intention, and giving back to organizations that provide yoga for populations who are deeply in need, LOKAH/CO is the manifestation of that pursuit.
